Erlang exploration

Since the release of Programming Erlang: Software for a Concurrent World I was curious about this language and its benefits, so I decided to get the PDF and give it a try. After a few hours I noticed some similarities with Prolog, which I learned by reading Turbo Prolog around 1989. I did not have much success building my own Prolog version of Tic Tac Toe, but it kept me busy for a month at least.

It is a functional language with modules and functions, most of them recursive which forces you to think as the old days, before OOA and OOD came into play. The only limitation I find so far is its database support which, for businesses may be a big issue since it only works with Mnesia, Erlang's propietary DMBS.

I will post more details about my learning in future postings.
